The live broadcast of the China Media Group (CMG)’s cultural gala celebrating the 2025 Chinese Lantern Festival garnered 459 million views on all platforms, an increase of 30 percent compared to last year, CMG announced on Thursday.
CMG’s 2025 Lantern Festival Gala was aired on Wednesday evening to celebrate the traditional Chinese festival, which was widely applauded by the global audience.
The Lantern Festival, observed on the 15th day of the first month of the Chinese lunar calendar, was celebrated on February 12 this year. It marked the conclusion of the Spring Festival celebrations.
The Chinese New Year, also known as the Spring Festival, is a cornerstone of Chinese culture, centered on family reunions, festive traditions and an unparalleled travel rush. This year’s celebrations held an even greater significance as it marked the first Spring Festival since it was inscribed in UNESCO’s Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
